Ex-Liverpool star leave Montpellier following an altercation with manager

A week following a spectacular confrontation with their boss, Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho, left Montpellier due to a "lack of respect".

Defender Mamadou Sakho recently had an altercation during training with his manager at Montpellier.

The French international grabbed the coach's collar and knocked him down which led to speculations of him getting sacked.

Sakho joined Montpellier in 2021, but after an altercation with the coach, his future there now appears questionable.

Sakho quit Montpellier 

The 33-year-old former Crystal Palace and Liverpool player released a lengthy statement regarding the abrupt end of his "adventure" at Montpellier.

In the wake of allegations that he kicked Michel Der Zakarian in a training field row, Sakho declares he will "leave like a man" according to reports.

Sakho said as reported by the Sun, "You have to know how to leave the table when respect is no longer served.

"Following the incident that took place last week at the training centre and for which I decline all responsibility, I have decided, on this day of 11/2/2023, to end my collaboration with Montpellier Herault sports club."

He concluded by saying, "We met as Men, let's leave as Men," even though he did not address American boss Der Zakarian. cheers to the season's end."

The French international expressed gratitude to President Laurent Nicolin, sports director Bruno Carotti, teammates, supporters, and medical personnel.

Montpellier is allegedly looking into Sakho's alleged altercation during training; his future was looking bleak even prior to his decision to leave the Ligue 1 mid-table team.
