The Harambee Stars defender created two big chances on his debut for Rakow against Ludogorets although they lost 3-1.

Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma made his debut for Raków Częstochowa in a 3-1 defeat to Bulgarian champions Ludogorets Razgrad on Saturday afternoon.

Erick Otieno was taking part in his first match since late 2023 while as a player for 2018 Swedish Champions AIK.

The Harambee Stars left back came on at half time and did well particularly going forward as he created two big chances from good crosses, but could not help the Polish champions avoid defeat in their Training camp in Turkey.

Marcelo needed those minutes as continues to gain enough sharpness that will enable him to return to his best in time for the resumption of their league season with the aim being to retain the Polish top flight crown.

Kwadwo Duah opened the scoring for Ludogorets in the second minute when he got on the end of  Vladan  Kovačević’s pass into the back of the net.

A moment later, Ante Cranc equalized for Rakow. However, the Bulgarian champions took the lead again in the eight minute whenAdnan Kovačević directed the ball into his own goal in a failed attempt to clear it.

Fran Tudor tried to respond with a volley, but Sergio Padt saved it. After half an hour of play, Bartosz Nowak tried to restore parity for Rakow but his was not enough to test the Ludogorets galkeepr.

The Bulgarians launched a dangerous counterattack and a few minutes before the break, Jakub Piotrowski hit the post to leave the score 2-1 heading into the break, which allowed Marcelo to come on as a substitute.

In the 60th minute, Dawid Drachal made a good move and only Simon Sluga's brave exit from the goal saved the Bulgarians.

Marelo nearly grabbed himself an assist when he sent a cross towards Srdjan Plavšić, who shot it just wide of the goal.

In the 82nd minute, the Kenyan delivered yet another audacious cross, but Péter Baráth headed the ball against the crossbar.

In the last action of the match, Rick Jonathan scored the third goal for Ludogorets to seal the tie in the Bulgarians’ favor.

Marcelo could make his official debut against Warta Poznan on February 11.
