Marcelo commences training at new club Raków ahead of anticipated league debut on Saturday.

Harambee Stars left-back Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma has commenced training with new club Raków Częstochowa ahead of his expected debut against Ludogorets in the Polish topflight.

Marcelo returned to training this week after a short holiday back in Kenya two weeks after signing for his new club, as he was spotted at the Police Sacco Stadium last Sunday during Kenya Police’s 2-0 win over Nzoia Sugar last Sunday.

In a video released by the club’s social media channels, Marcelo expressed excitement ahead of his first training session, revealing just how much he had missed football after not playing for over two months since the conclusion of the Swedish top flight in November.

“I am fine, I am fine,” Marcelo said when asked about how he was feeling ahead of training.

“I am excited and looking forward to training. I missed football so much but now I am back.”

It is expected Marcelo may understandably not start against Ludogorets considering he is lacking in match sharpness after an extended break from playing, but depending on the information the coaching staff gather from his training sessions, he could be in line to make his maiden appearance as a substitute.

“I am waiting for more information from the coach,” he said.

AIK banked a fee in the region of 10m Swedish Krona (Ksh156,674,156) and has been offered a salary close to $10,000 (Ksh1,606,865) with his former club Vasalund guaranteed a 30 percent share of the transfer fee.

Upon completion of his move to Poland, Marcelo had expressed pride at joining the reigning Polish top flight champions.

“Poland is a good league and I am proud to be in this great team which is doing well and playing good football,” Ouma said of his new club.

“I have not spoken to anyone because I think Poland and Sweden are the same the kind of weather is quite similar. Bartosz (Cekus) is a good coach, we had good cooperation and enjoyed good moments while at AIK.”

Czestochowa are fourth in the Polish top flight with 32 points, nine behind leaders Slask Wroclaw, with a game in hand.
