England’s FA will reportedly consider appointing Sarina Wiegman, who is currently the coach of the Women’s national team, as manager of the Men’s team after current manager Gareth Southgate leaves his role.
England eye Wiegman for Three Lions
Wiegman has proven herself as one of the best managers in Women’s football after leading the Netherlands to an unprecedented win the 2017 Women’s Euros and following that up with similar success with England’s Lionesses in the 2021 edition.

She has also led England to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup final for the first time in their history after doing the same with the Netherlands in 2019.
Wiegman could become the first manager since Germany’s Silvia Neid in 2007 to become World Champions after winning the European Championships and her excellence might earn her a place in history as a pioneer football manager.
Weigman could make history with Three Lions
According to reports from ESPN, she could be in line to become the first female manager of the England Men’s national team if Gareth Southgate decides to leave his role as manager or is forced out of the job.
The former Dutch international midfielder could become the first coach to lead an English team to success on the world stage since Alf Ramsey led the Three Lions to World Cup success in 1966 and could be considered a leading prospect for the job, given a dearth of English managerial quality in the current talent pool.
In addition to the difficulty she will face having to cross a barrier into the men’s game, she could also come up against the opposition who want to see an English coach in charge of the England national team going forward.

If she or any other non-English man succeeds, they will be the first manager from outside England to coach the Three Lions since Italian gaffer Fabio Capello, who led the team between 2007 and 2012.
