Barcelona dropped points at home to Girona and in doing so, were unable to take advantage of Real Madrid's defeat to Villarreal to further extend their lead at the top of LaLiga.
Barcelona missed the chance to go 15 points clear at the top of La Liga as they were held to a goalless draw against mid-table Girona at Camp Nou.
How it happened
Barcelona seemed to struggle to shake off the feeling of being humbled by Real Madrid in midweek as they failed to really get going in the opening stages.
When they eventually did create anything of note, they were denied by Paulo Gazzaniga, who repelled Raphinha and then Ronald Araujo in quick succession.
Second half action - Barcelona unable to break Girona down
Barcelona began the second half like the first, lots of possession but no real penetration.
Girona wasted a glorious chance to take the lead 10 minutes into the second half when Taty Castellanos was played through on goal but shot wide when a simple pass to a teammate would have been the better option.
