Nigeria currently sits in last-place in Group A.
After months of preparations, and waiting, the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations finally got underway in Egypt on Sunday, with 12 teams vying to be crowned Africa's youth champion.
The tournament which will run from February 19 to March 11, will see the best four participating teams qualifying for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia in May.
On Sunday, hosts Egypt, Mozambique, Nigeria and Senegal got the competition underway. Here is how things panned out.
Hosts, Mozambique share spoils

Hosts Egypt were dominant in the opening fixture of the tournament but found difficulty in breaking down a resolute Mozambican defence at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday.
Mozambique side started on the back foot as Egpyt created many chances throughout the match, but their dominance failed to produce a goal.
Both sides will now look to their next matches in search of their first win of the tournament, with Egpyt taking on Nigeria on February 22, and Mozambique taking on Senegal.

The second game of the day and the second in Cairo saw Senegal hand Nigeria's Flying Eagles a demoralising start in their opening fixture at the tournament.
The game between Senegal and Nigeria saw little or no chances created between both sides that were meeting first time since the final of the 2015 tournament which Nigeria won.
Senegal came off winners this time around as a quick counterattack in the 40th minute, ended with Souleymane Faye tapping in from close range into the roof of the Flying Eagles' net.
The defeat sees Nigeria sit at the base of Group A.
