Chelsea reportedly enter bid for long-time Barcelona target.

Chelsea are reportedly set to hijack Barcelona's move for Real Valladolid's Ivan Fresneda, as they continue their summer splash.

The Blues are said to have entered into bidding for the 18-year-old right-back, despite multiple reports claiming Barcelona are in advanced negotiations for his signing.

Barca and Fresneda operation

According to a report by the Spanish publication Sport, the sporting director of the LALIGA champions, Deco, is a massive fan of the young fullback and has started negotiations with Pucela to bring him in.

However, the Barcelona coaching staff prioritises the signing of Manchester City's Joao Cancelo, and due to the financial situation of the Blaugrana, it is difficult to execute both operations in the same window.

The move has now hit a halt, although Barcelona were seen as close to landing him despite having a previous bid of €8 million plus another €4 million in add-ons rejected.

It is understood that there are a number of clubs in the race for him, including Chelsea; however, the player is said to be holding out for Barcelona.

Chelsea and Barcelona at war for a player again

According to the same report, the Blues have sent in a bid following the recently announced injury to Reece James and could hijack the deal from Barcelona, as they will be able to pay more than the Catalans can afford.

Both clubs have crossed paths a number of times in recent transfer windows, with Chelsea going all out for Raphinha from Leeds and Jules Kounde for Barcelona; however, both players opted for the five-time Champions League winners.
