While identifying the Ivorians as his primary pick based on their potential, Desailly also expressed a personal hope for his birth country, Ghana, acknowledging its deep passion for the sport.
"Maybe Ivory Coast, even though I would really like Ghana to make it to the final," he remarked.

Notably absent from the lineup is Nigeria. The Super Eagles failed to qualify for the World Cup and also fell short in their bid to win the Africa Cup of Nations, where they were eliminated by hosts Morocco in a semi-final penalty shootout.
