“I will make hard decisions” — Portugal boss Martinez opens up on benching Ronaldo at 2026 World Cup
Portugal head coach Roberto Martínez has made it clear that no player, including captain Cristiano Ronaldo, is guaranteed a starting spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Despite England's potential, Wenger explained why he considers France the team to beat.
"But trying to be as objective as possible, I think France are the super favourites," he added. "Just for one reason. They have more world-class strikers than any other country."
France will be able to call on the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele, Hugo Ekitike, Michael Olise and Marcus Thuram in forward positions, potentially the nation with the most attacking depth.
However, Les Bleus must be wary of powerhouses like defending champions Argentina, and the likes of Spain, Portugal, Germany and even dark horses Brazil.
