The presence of Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi on the sidelines when his team plays Manchester United on Thursday is uncertain.

The Italian was unable to attend his press conference on Wednesday due to illness and was told to stay at home and recover.

The Seagulls will welcome Manchester United to the Amex Stadium on Thursday and there is no confirmation that De Zerbi will be available for the game.

Assistant manager Maldera to take replace De Zerbi on the touchline

In his absence, his assistant Andrea Maldera has taken up the responsibility of training as she prepares to take De Zerbi's place on the sidelines tomorrow.

De Zerbi has already been given two touchline suspensions this season, leaving Brighton without him on many occasions. Brighton has won both games without conceding a goal. They defeated West Ham 4-0 in their first game and Grimsby 5-0 in the FA Cup.

Brighton aim to revenge FA Cup loss against United

Brighton will be hoping they can get back at Manchester United after they were Knocked out by the Red Devils on penalties in the FA Cup semi-final.

With a victory against the Red Devils, De Zerbi's Brighton would move up to sixth place in the Premier League as they continue their quest for next season's European football.

The absence of their head coach will undoubtedly make things difficult even though Brighton will be out for vengeance. To build on Brighton's recent success, which saw them defeat Wolves 6-0, De Zerbi will be looking for a speedy return to the managerial position.
