'Anthony Joshua' Osayi-Samuel has joined his national teammates at the Super Eagles camp after his Fenerbahce heroics.

There was a familiar face in the Super Eagles squad as wing-back Bright Osayi-Samuel, nicknamed 'Anthony Joshua', arrived at Nigeria's training camp in Morocco.

The 26-year-old has been widely praised for his actions defending himself and his Fenerbahce teammates from violent pitch invaders following their recent Turkish league match against Trabzonspor.

Osayi-Samuel's Heroics

Disturbing scenes saw fans storm the field to attack Fenerbahce players at the final whistle, with footage showing Osayi-Samuel throwing a punch to floor one charging supporter in the act of self-defence.

Nigerians have been quick to dub the former QPR man 'Anthony Joshua' in reference to the British heavyweight boxer's powerful punching ability.

While the violent crowd behaviour was completely unacceptable, Osayi-Samuel's response showed impressive bravery and determination to protect himself and his colleagues amid the chaos.

Those same traits have been a hallmark of the defender who has now joined up with his Super Eagles teammates alongside Kenneth Omeruo and former Bendel Insurance star, Benjamin Tanimu ahead of the friendlies against Ghana and Mali.

The energetic wing-back has been a key figure in Fenerbahce's impressive season, thanks to his relentless work rate, defensive diligence and eye for goal.

He opened his account for the campaign by scoring in the 4-2 win over Hatayspor back in October last year.

With Nigeria preparing for a double-header against their West African rivals, Osayi-Samuel's fight and commitment could make him an asset for George's side over the two matches.

His boxing-inspired nickname may raise a smile, but 'Anthony Joshua' Osayi-Samuel looks ready to pack a punch for the Super Eagles if called upon in Morocco.
