Nico Schlotterbeck counts on home support to secure Dortmund's Champions League win against Newcastle United at Signal Iduna Park.

Revenge is on the agenda for Newcastle United as they head into a pivotal Champions League Group F match against Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park.

After suffering their first defeat of the season at St James' Park, Eddie Howe's squad is keen to even the score.

However, Dortmund's Nico Schlotterbeck has other plans, banking on the formidable home crowd to carry them to victory once more.

The German defender reflected on the team's previous encounter with Newcastle and emphasized the importance of securing an early qualification in the group.

"I hope not. I hope we can get the job done before then," Schlotterbeck expressed, alluding to the group potentially being decided in the final matchday.

The 23-year-old  firmly believes that with two solid performances and a boost from their supporters, a nerve-wracking finale can be avoided.

In the rain-soaked battle a fortnight ago, Schlotterbeck noted that fighting spirit was key.

"That certainly helped us," he said.

The young centre-back lauded their ability to handle Newcastle's intense pressure, particularly during the first half, and commended his goalkeeper for contributing to a rare away win at Newcastle.

Looking ahead to the second leg, Schlotterbeck is bracing for an intense clash.

"That's why we have to play very precisely, be decisive in our actions, play our combinations well, and that will give us chances to finish off our attacks and hopefully score a few goals," he analyzed, setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling encounter.

The atmosphere at European games is often a game-changer, and Schlotterbeck vividly recalls the vocal support Dortmund received away from home.

"It was incredible how our fans showed up in Newcastle," he reminisced, adding that the support from the stands could very well be the extra push Dortmund needs to clinch the win.
