FKFPL: Bidco striker Ndung'u sends Golden Boot warning to Rupia, Omala

The former Kenya Police striker wants to win the FKFPL Golden Boot next season.

Bidco United striker Samwel Ndung’u has sent a stern warning to Kenya Police’s Elivs Machapo Rupia and Benson Omala ahead of the 2023/2024 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) season.

Ndung’u was in stellar form as Bidco pipped Kariobangi Sharks to win the 2023/2024 Elite Preseason Cup tournament, which has stepped up the Thika-based outfit’s preparations as the new season starts on Saturday 26 August.

Ndung’u harbours ambitions of winning this season’s FKFPL Golden Boot award, which is currently held by former Kenya  Police teammate, Rupia.

“This season, I believe I will be the top scorer,” Ndung’u told Sports Eye.

Rupia netted a record-breaking 27 goals, with Gor Mahia’s Omala coming second with 26 goals, but Ndung’u stresses that although he intends to oust them, it will be a tough challenge.

“Machapo was my teammate at Kenya Police. He should expect a challenge. It will not be easy.

“I believe it has given us the platform to know where we are before the league starts. The coach now knows what to do and expect, who to bring in, and who to bring out.”

Ndung’u says that the mood in the Bidco camp is more positive than ever before with everyone pulling in the same direction.

“As players, we believe in each other. We coach each other before the coach even tells us what to do.

“I believe that is why we performed well and now we are ready.”

Bidco United will host Posta Rangers at the Thika grounds in the opening game of the 2023/2024 FKFPL season.
