Besiktas submitted a transfer offer for Arsenal defender Rob Holding but the Gunners will reject the offer according to reports.

The English international has struggled to keep his place in the team and has fallen down the pecking order behind Saliba and new signing Kiwior.

He was given an opportunity toward the end of last season after Saliba got injured but did not live up to the expectation.

Holding’s contract with Arsenal is expected to run until 2024 with the option of a further year but the Gunners are looking to cash in on him.

Arsenal are expected to reject the bid

The Gunners are expected to reject the bid offered to them for Holding from the Turkish team, according to reports.

The Turkish team made a €2.5million offer for Arsenal defender Rob Holding but the Gunners consider the offer to be very low.

According to David Ornstein on Twitter via the Athletic, “Besiktas have submitted an offer to sign Rob Holding from Arsenal.

“Proposal for centre-back worth €2.5m. Far below what #AFC might consider selling & will be rejected. 27yo has 1yr left on contract + club option to extend by 12 months.”

Holding struggles at Arsenal

The centre-back, who is now 27 years old, moved to Arsenal from Bolton in 2016 and has since won two FA Cups.

Last season, Holding made 14 Premier League appearances for Arsenal after replacing an injured William Saliba in March.

However, with Saliba's return, impressive Kiwior and Arteta's coaching changes he might find it hard to get into the team.

The preseason friendly between Arsenal and Nurnberg on Thursday resulted in a 1-1 tie, but Holding was left off the team.
