The Gunners blew Atletico Madrid away with a stellar second-half performance to earn a comfortable win at home

Arsenal benefited from more set-piece situations as they romped to a 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid at home to make it three wins from three Champions League ties.

The Gunners opened the scoring from through centre-back Gabriel, who headed in a Declan Rice freekick, before Gabriel Martinelli made it 2-0, and Viktor Gyokeres added a double to make it a comfortable night for Arsenal.

Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid: How it happened

Arsenal marked their 100th UEFA Champions League victory in style with a dominant 4-0 win over Atlético Madrid at the Emirates.

Declan Rice came close early on, but neither side could muster a clear chance in a drab first half that ended 0-0.

The second half threatened to go the same way early on before Gabriel finally broke the deadlock with a trademark header from a set-piece.

Atlético’s only real threats came from a long-range strike from Julian Alvarez that rattled the bar and a close header that sailed over, but beyond that, they were chasing shadows.

Gabriel Martinelli added a second after a brilliant run and pass from Myles Lewis-Skelly, before Viktor Gyökeres grabbed a quickfire brace, the first via a deflection, the second from close range after another Rice corner.

For Atlético, the defeat was a humbling one, ending their six-game unbeaten streak and extending their winless away run.
