However, the defender’s current club is asking for €25m in order to let him leave.

Arsenal are understood to have submitted a €17 million (£14.7m) bid for Galatasaray right-back Sacha Boey.

According to reports in Turkey, the Gunners have made the first step towards signing Galatasaray’s fullback.

The 22-year-old has been one of the club’s standout performers this season and has played a vital role as the club is on the brink of winning their first Super Lig title in four years.

Mikel Arteta will be keen to strengthen Arsenal’s right back position in the summer, and Boey is a key target.

This season, Arteta has at times been forced to deploy Ben White at right back. But given the number of matches and titles Arsenal will be chasing next season, a natural right back will be needed.

It was reported that Galatasaray’s vice president, Erden Timur, was in London for talks over a deal for Boey last week.

The Turkish giants are, however, asking for a €25 million (£21.7 million) fee and are unwilling to let the defender leave for less than that amount. This means Arsenal have to improve their offer if they want to land their target.

The fullback has two years remaining on his Galatasaray contract. He joined the Turkish club from Renes in 2021.

In a recent interview, the French defender revealed that he was willing to leave.

"I’ve experienced the lows and the highs [with Galatasaray]. My performance is consistent now," Boey told L’Equipe in April.

"I think it’s time to turn a corner, but we’ll see at the end of the season depending on what happens."

Arsenal are expected to be very busy in the transfer window as they hope to massively bolster the squad that missed the Premier League title.
