Mari phased out, loaned to Udinese, then transferred to Monza.

Spanish misfit Pablo Mari has called time on his Gunners career, joining AC Monza on a permanent basis after spending the season out on loan at the Serie A club.

The 29-year-old defender initially signed for Arsenal on loan  from Brazilian side Flamengo in January 2020, joining permanently six months later.

During his time with Arsenal,  Mari made 22 appearances in all competitions, including a goal in the club’s 4-1 UEFA Europa League win at home to Rapid Vienna in December 2020.

He left Brazil with his stock high, having played an integral role in his team winning both the Brazilian league title and South American Copa Libertadores.

After a particularly disastrous performance against Chelsea in August 2021 when he was bullied off the pitch by Romelu Lukaku, Mari began to be phased out of the club and was then sent out on loan to Udinese in January 2022.

Following a short-term spell with Udinese to see out the 2021/2022 campaign, the Spanish defender spent the whole of last season on loan with the team he now joins, AC Monza. During last season, Mari made 31 appearances in all competitions, helping his newly promoted side to an 11th-place finish in Serie A.

Mari famously  showed tremendous strength and courage last year to recover from a robber attack which injured him in Milan in October 2022, but thankfully managed to fully recover.
