Mikel Arteta believes there is life at the end of tunnel despite the almost impossible task from snatching the Premier League from Manchester City this season.

Mikel Arteta believes Arsenal can miraculously win the Premier League this season despite trailing rivals Man City with two games left to play.

The Gunners were defeated 3-0 by Brighton at the Emirates making it look impossible for the north London club to bounce back from their slip ups.

The current situation

The Citizens only need to beat Chelsea this weekend at the Etihad to be crowned Premier League champions, which means Arteta will be depending on the Blues to do them a favour.

Pep Guardiola’s men have been in fine form in many weeks, winning 13 straight league fixtures and are still basking in the euphoria of knocking holders Real Madrid out of the Champions League.

Arteta’s difficult task

Arsenal currently have 81 points with two games to play while City are sitting comfortably at the top with 85 points with three games at hand.

Arteta would require City to lose their last three games against Chelsea, Brighton and Brentford which looks almost impossible to achieve.

On the other hand, Arteta’s men will need to secure consecutives wins against Nottingham Forest and Wolves which looks realistic.

The Spanish gaffer said:

“Two games to go and we can still be champions against arguably the best team in the history of the Premier League. We are still there and we’re not going to bottle that, that’s for sure.”
