Alejandro Garnacho's subtle social media response to Erik ten Hag's post-match comments has ignited controversy.

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has seemingly reacted to post-match comments from Erik ten Hag, by liking tweets criticising the Dutch manager.

Garnacho was yanked off at half-time by Ten Hag at half-time in a bid to overturn a 2-1 scoreline away at Bournemouth. Manchester United eventually drew the game 2-2 thanks to a Bruno Fernandes penalty, and after the match, the former Ajax boss was why he substituted his most in-form forward who had already registered an assist in the match.

What Ten Hag said

“I think we had to repair over the right side. We didn’t play well, the spaces were there. In possession, we had to bring a sub there. Garnacho was during the week not training,” Ten Hag said, explaining why he substituted the Argentine youngster.

“Only yesterday. We thought bring some energy and bring some more quality, quality in the sense of cooperation and togetherness on that right-hand side.”

Garnacho’s response

Popular Manchester United Youtuber Mark Goldbridge was critical of Ten Hag’s comments, as he believes the Dutch manager had thrown Garnacho under the bus.

“Garnacho has been one of our best players this season. Poor first half but taking him off at half time and holding him up as the problem is a joke. Many have done much worse week in week out and are still out there.”

“Ten Hag subtly blaming Garnacho in the post-match press conference...not a good look throwing a 19-year-old under the bus who has actually delivered for you this season. But then again he's clearly scared of upsetting the bigger earners.”

The Argentina international seemingly agreed with the Manchester United fan, as he like both tweets. This is not the first instance of a player taking to Twitter to react to Ten Hag’s utterances in a press conference. Jadon Sancho, now on loan at Borussia Dortmund, famously hit at the former Utrecht boss after he publicly criticised his attitude in training.
