The ex-Bolton star and former Lagos Governor lightened up Super Eagles players' mood ahead of the all-important 2023 Africa Cup of Nations clash against Ivory Coast.

Former Nigeria captain Austin Jay-Jay Okocha has handed the Super Eagles a boost ahead of their 2023 AFCON clash against Ivory Coast.

The Super Eagles will take on the hosts in their second game in the competition following their opening clash against Equatorial Guinea.

Nigeria started their AFCON 2023 campaign with a disappointing 1-1 draw against the Guineans and will be looking to stun the Elephants when they clash at the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpé.

With the match holding a lot of significance, Okocha paid the players a visit at the team’s base to give them a boost.

The former Nigeria captain visited the current Super Eagles players during their dinner on Wednesday night.

It was indeed a visit the players needed as most of them were happy to see the highly-revered playmaker join them in camp.

Okocha’s visit was also appreciated by Super Eagles boss, Jose Peseiro, thanking him for coming to show support for the players ahead of the all-important encounter.

The former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) midfielder had also met with the players shortly after the 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea.

However, Okocha was not the only prominent personality who visited the team ahead of the Ivory Coast clash.

Former Lagos State government Akinwunmi Ambode was also in attendance, urging the players to go for a win against the hosts.

A win for Nigeria against Ivory Coast will take them top of Group A, while a loss could leave them potentially in danger of a first-round exit.
