Kayci Odhiambo, AFC Leopards defender, celebrates his first Harambee Stars call-up for the Four Nations Tournament in Malawi.

AFC Leopards defender cum midfielder Kayci Odhiambo has been beaming with pride after receiving his first-ever call-up to Harambee Stars for the anticipated Four Nations Tournament in Malawi.

This announcement came on Wednesday from the team's head coach, Engin Firat, who named a 27-man squad gearing up for the international event.

The 23-year-old finds himself in the company of other debutants, including Tusker midfielder Chrispin Erambo, former Gor Mahia player Alphonce Omija, and Murang'a Seal's reliable goalkeeper Bonphas Munyasa.

Odhiambo shared his exhilaration and gratitude for this significant milestone in his career.

“It is always a pleasure for any sportsman to don the national team’s colors and represent his county. I am elated to have finally received this call-up. It has purely been through hard work, and it’s now time to put in more work and cement my position in the team," he expressed.

Beginning his football journey at the tender age of six with Jericho All Stars, Odhiambo's path to success has been marked by dedication and growth.

After honing his skills in the Makadara Junior League, formerly known as Hakati he transitioned from a creative midfielder to a center back.

A loan spell with National Super League side Mount Kenya United further developed his game before he made his mark at AFC Leopards debuting in an FKF Premier League match against Sofapaka FC in Wundanyi.

Harambee Stars are set to embark on their journey to Malawi for the tournament, which runs from Monday 18 March to Tuesday 26 March.

They will face formidable opponents, including the host nation Malawi, along with Zimbabwe and Zambia.

This Four Nation Tournament, falling within the international window, promises to be a critical preparatory phase for the teams as they eye qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
