Zlatan Ibrahimovic proves that he really is the Lion of Milan with Serie A record

AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic affirmed the rightness of the decision to call him up to the Sweden national team by scoring on his first start with the Rossoneri in Serie A after returning from injury.

Ibrahimovic scored from the penalty spot on his second attempt in first-half additional time to pull Milan level against Udinese. In doing so, he became the oldest goalscorer in Serie A history at 41 years and 166 days.

He beat the record set by fellow Milan legend Alessandro Costacurta, who was 41 years and 25 days old when he scored the last Serie A goal of his career in May 2007.

With his goal, Ibrahimovic writes his name into the Serie A history books and proves that the Lion still has some fight left in him.

Zlatan is (almost) back

Ibrahimovic is looking to recover full fitness in time to give Milan a push for honours at the end of the season and he was starting only his first game since an awful injury suffered in May last year, while his record-breaking goal was also his first since April 2022.

The big Swede was able to play 75 minutes against Udinese before being substituted and is clearly on the path to being fully fit again.

This will come as great news to Sweden who will be depending on Ibrahimovic as they execute two crucial EURO 2024 qualifiers next week
