Nigerians celebrate as ban on Tobi Amusan is dropped with immediate effect
The provisional suspension on Tobi Amusan has been lifted with immediate effect.
She was suspended and was told to stay away from any sporting activity till further investigations were made.
However, after a recent investigation was made, she was cleared of all doping charges by a Disciplinary Tribunal.

Tobi Amusan: Nigerian world record holder is finally cleared of doping violation
Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan has finally been cleared of doping allegations, and her provisional suspension lifted.
AIU released a statement saying that the Disciplinary Tribunal has done their investigation and found that Tobi did not commit any Anti-Doping Rule.
According to AIU, “A panel of the Disciplinary Tribunal, by majority decision, has today found that Tobi Amusan has not committed an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) of three Whereabouts Failures within a 12-month period.”
The 26-year-old was accused of violating the anti-doping rule for missing three tests within a 12-month period and was charged with three whereabouts failures.
However, those charges were dropped by the Disciplinary Tribunal who admitted that she did not commit any violation.

Meanwhile, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has said that they are disappointed by the decision made by the Disciplinary Tribunal.

The 2023 World Athletics Championships, slated for August 19-27, 2023, will bring together more than 2,000 athletes from 200 countries with the ultimate prize and history up for grabs.
According to AIU Head Brett Clothier, “The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) is disappointed by this decision and will review the reasoning in detail before deciding whether to exercise its right of appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) within the applicable deadline.
“The decision is currently confidential but will be published in due course. Amusan’s provisional suspension has now been lifted with immediate effect.”
AIU are looking to appeal the decision of the Disciplinary Tribunal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Amusan will return to competing in Athletic competitions after her suspension was lifted with immediate effect.
