World 100m champion Fred Kerley will not be defending his title in Budapest, after failing to qualify for the final.

There'll be no title defense for World Champion Fred Kerley in Budapest, as he failed to make the men's 100m final at the ongoing World Championships.

The American speedster clocked 10.01s to finish third in his semifinal race which wasn't enough to book his spot in the final.

Jamaica's youngster Oblique Seville won the race in 9.90s, ahead of Botswana's Letsile Tebogo in 9.98s, with both booking their automatic final spots.

It's a sad ending for Kerley, who was highly rated as a top favourite to win a second consecutive gold medal in the event, having bragged and had exchange of words with Olympic Champion Marcell Jacobs (also didn't make the final) throughout the season about being the best.
