Decision comes just one day out of the World Athletics Championships.

Approximately two hundred and thirteen million Nigerians can collectively breathe easy after the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) cleared 100m hurdles World Champion and Record Holder Tobi Amusan of doping violations.

The decision was arrived at slightly over 24 hours to the start of 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary and mightily revives golden hope for the populous West African state of bagging another sprint medal at the global arena.

AIU had provisionally suspended the track star from all athletics for allegedly missing three tests within a twelve-month period but Amusan was tentatively registered into the athlete's list for this year's World Championships awaiting a decision which has now turned out positively for the Nigerian athlete.

Her provisional suspension has been lifted forthwith and Amusan is free to compete in Budapest. The Nigerian is among three athletes favored to win gold in the women's 100m hurdles alongside Jasmine Camacho-Quin and Kendra Harrison of the USA.

"A panel of the Disciplinary Tribunal, by majority decision, has today found that Tobi Amusan has not committed an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) of three Whereabouts Failures within a 12-month period,," a statement from AIU announced on Thursday night

"AIU Head Brett Clothier has indicated the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) is disappointed by this decision and will review the reasoning in detail before deciding whether to exercise its right of appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) within the applicable deadline. The decision is currently confidential but will be published in due course.

"Amusan’s provisional suspension has now been lifted with immediate effect," the statement concluded
