The University of Virginia standout thrower has been consistent in surpassing the 60m mark four times this year, which saw her win an NCAA Outdoor Championships silver medal in the women's Discus throw.

As the reigning National Sports Festival champion and adding the National title, Anumba certified her name as the best Discus thrower in the country this year. Her mark has also earned her enough ranking points to be in a strong position to qualify for the World Championships in Budapest.

African Record (AR) holder and Commonwealth champion Chioma Onyekwere settled for second with a distance of 56.94m, while Obiageri Amaechi was third with 55.53m.
