Nigeria vs Rwanda: Amavubi release list for Super Eagles World Cup qualifier
The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) has unveiled a 27-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Warriors of Zimbabwe.
The list selected by head coach Carlos Alós brings together experienced regulars and emerging talents as Rwanda aims to improve on their position in the World Cup qualification standing.
The list has young prospects like Darryl Nkulikiyimana and high-profile players such as Hakim Sahabo.
The Amavubi will face Nigeria on September 6, 2025, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, followed by a match against Zimbabwe.
Rwanda in Nigeria
On Tuesday September 2, 2025, Rwanda's team will land in Lagos for Saturday's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounter against Nigeria.
An advance team of one person will arrive in Lagos on Monday, but the entire delegation will land in Lagos on Tuesday on a Rwandair Airline flight and travel to Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State on the same day.
Nigeria and Rwanda are both far behind South Africa, who lead the group with 13 points.
With eight points, Rwanda is tied for second place in the pool with the Benin Republic, while Nigeria is in fourth place with seven points.
The matchup at Godswill Akpabio Stadium takes place five months and two weeks after the Super Eagles upset the Amavubi 2-0 on Matchday 5 away in Kigali.
