Nigeria’s head coach, Eric Chelle, is reportedly pushing for a substantial salary increase to remain in charge of the Super Eagles following their impressive outing at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
🚨 $100,000 monthly salary to keep Eric Chelle as Super Eagles is ridiculous & outrageous for an average coach.

I understand Marseille is interested in him, but I can bet it he won't spend a season in France before they sack him.

According to BSN, sources close to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) indicate that the Franco-Malian tactician has requested a new monthly salary of $100,000, an increase of more than 80 per cent from his current earnings since taking over the national team in 2024.
Chelle’s request comes on the back of Nigeria’s strong performance at the 2025 AFCON tournament in Morocco, where the Super Eagles secured a bronze medal.
Despite not lifting the trophy, Nigeria’s campaign was widely regarded as a success, strengthening calls for the NFF to secure Chelle’s long-term future with improved contract terms.

Can the NFF and NSC sustain the payment?
The coach was appointed in 2024 on a two-year deal, with one year remaining on his current contract.
Marseille links and growing interest
Amid contract negotiations, rumours have linked Chelle with French Ligue 1 side Olympique de Marseille, which was reportedly preparing an 18-month offer.
Beyond France, several African football federations are believed to be monitoring the situation closely after Nigeria’s impressive tournament showing.
