Southampton vs Arsenal Prediction and Betting Tips: Championship Warriors Meet Premier League Title-Chasers In The FA Cup Quarterfinals
It’s been a somber two weeks for Arsenal, who will no doubt have spent a lot of time agonizing over the could-haves and should-haves of their EFL Cup final loss to Manchester City.
Be that as it may, it is time to dust off and jump back into the fray, as a tremendous treble is still very much within reach for the Gunners.
They remain nine points clear at the Premier League summit, have a winnable Champions League quarter-final with Sporting Lisbon on the horizon, and are just 90 minutes away from another Wembley appearance in the FA Cup.
Arsenal’s run to this stage has been rather kind, facing lower league opposition in Portsmouth, Wigan and Mansfield, scoring ten goals in the process and conceding twice.
The FA Cup is the only major honour of Arteta’s tenure thus far, and as they look to book a place in the last four – where they could again meet City – Arsenal face a Southampton side on a good run of form themselves.
Saints are unbeaten in their last 12 league matches, featuring nine victories, across a spell stretching back to mid-January and taking Tonda Eckert’s side from 15th to sixth in the Championship table.
Southampton have also shaken things up in the FA Cup, and are the last second-tier side standing following their win over Premier League side Fulham in the fifth round at Craven Cottage.

Arsenal to qualify
Southampton have a crucial match against play-off rivals Wrexham on Tuesday night, and thus, Eckert may play a slightly weakened team against the Gunners. This should increase Arsenal’s chances of progressing, although the Saints will be excited by the prospect of a Wembley trip and will feel this is a free hit.
Arteta’s priorities will be tying the game up early, ensuring his players come through unscathed from an injury standpoint, and not having to call upon key starters to rescue the tie.
This will be easier said than done, although they should ultimately have far too much for the Championship side.
Both teams to score
While Arsenal boasts of the best defence in the Premier League, they haven't been keeping many clean sheets of late. The Gunners conceded in seven of their last 10 matches, and there is a possibility that this trend will continue here.
That is strengthened by Southampton’s own attacking prowess, backed by the home crowd, which should test the Gunners.
Gyokeres to score anytime
Viktor Gyokeres netted four times for Sweden during the international break, including a hat-trick, to help send his country through to the World Cup finals.
While the Sweden international has not hit the ground running like everyone would expect, he has been showing signs of life in recent weeks, having scored 15 goal contributions in 22 games for club and country in 2026.
Gyokeres to score anytime is therefore our final punt.

Team News – Southampton
Southampton are not in perfect shape for the quarter-final, as midfield metronome Flynn Downes and playmaker Kuryu Matsuki are both suspended owing to an accumulation of yellow cards, having been booked for the second time in the FA Cup at Craven Cottage.
Ex-Brentford right-back Mads Roerslev (knee) is out for the season, while Welington (muscle), Jay Robinson (thigh) and Alex McCarthy (wrist) are also on the treatment table.
To make matters worse, skipper Jack Stephens suffered a training-ground injury on Monday, and Leo Scienza was not seen at all as he continues his recuperation from a groin problem.
Team News – Arsenal
No fewer than 10 Arsenal players pulled out of international duty in March; some with noticeable, well-reported injuries in Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke, and others with unforeseen issues in Martin Zubimendi, Piero Hincapie, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Jurrien Timber.
Expect Arteta to remain tight-lipped on their conditions in his pre-game press conference, but it would not be a shock to see all of them spared with the Sporting first leg in mind. The same goes for Martin Odegaard (knee), while Mikel Merino (foot) is definitely sidelined.
With no Madueke and likely no Saka, 16-year-old phenom Max Dowman will surely be given a shot from the start at St Mary's, where Kepa Arrizabalaga should continue in between the posts despite another EFL Cup blunder.
