Arteta on mindset in GQ interview
In the interview, Arteta details his mindset of waking up early to his office and looking at the Arsenal training pitches at London Colney contemplating his squad line-up.
Since he was a little child, racing around improvised beach fields in San Sebastian that changed shape as the tide moved in and out, Arteta has been obsessed with winning football games.
Arteta on losing the title to Manchester City
Arsenal led the league for nine months but at the end of the previous campaign, faltered.
The title went to Manchester City despite Arsenal having an eight-point lead in January and its young team playing some of the league's most attractive football.
Arteta required time to process the hurt and be sincere with himself when the season ended.
He told GQ, “I had to go through that and it took me a few weeks.
“I don’t know if I’ve gotten over it, and probably I don’t want to because I need that to be better.”
Arteta realized there were several player management strategies after studying the systems in other sports.
When Arteta arrived at Arsenal, he immediately recognized that the issue was how the club's members felt because he enjoys reading people and understanding what they desire.
