Grateful Mourinho not interested in Roma's history books
AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho has made it clear that he is not interested in attaining legendary status at the Italian club.
Mourinho made this known after leading Roma to another European Cup final.
The Serie A side defeated Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 on aggregate to reach the final of the Europa League.
Mourinho not looking for legendary status
The win over the Bundesliga outfit means Mourinho has now taken Roma to back-to-back European finals.
His latest final with the Giallorossi is the sixth final in the Portuguese’s career and second in Roma.
The former Manchester United boss took Roma to the title in the inaugural season of the Europa Conference League last season.
However, as per Football Italia, the Roma boss is not looking to be in the club’s history books.
“My concern isn’t marking my place in the Roma history books,” he said per Football Italia via Sky Sport after the game against Leverkusen.
“It’s helping these kids to grow, to achieve important things. It’s also helping the Roma fans who have given me so much since day one. It’s an immense joy to get to another final.”
Mourinho also thanked his players for their performance on the night.
The win was “In the small details,” Mourinho added. “If we don’t have Smalling on the bench, maybe we don’t win this game.”
