Astrid Wett has incurred the wrath of Nigerians on social media over her recent post.

Astrid Wett, a popular UK-based OnlyFans creator and self-professed Chelsea fan, has found herself embroiled in controversy after publicly expressing support for the Super Eagles of Nigeria during the AFCON 2023 tournament.

Despite her intentions to show solidarity with the Nigerian national team, Wett's gesture has sparked backlash from Nigerian social media users who perceive her actions as simply ‘clout-chasing’.

In the lead-up to Nigeria's semi-final clash against South Africa's Bafana Bafana, Astrid Wett took to social media to share photos of herself donning the Super Eagles' home jersey.

While some may view her gesture as a harmless display of support for a football team, many Nigerians on social media have criticized Wett for what they perceive as clout-chasing behavior.

Shortly after Nigeria defeated South Africa to noon their place at the finals this weekend, Astrid posted a short video of herself rooting for Nigeria at this year’s AFCON in Ivory Coast as she captioned on X: ‘NIGERIA WE HAVE DONE IT!!!’

One user quoted her post with: ‘Insane clout chasing. We don't know you’

Before another user wrote: ‘There's an imposter among us’

Another comment read: ‘Off the road abeg’

One other comment read: ‘I feel offended’

The backlash against Wett mirrors similar instances in the past, including her interaction with Chelsea star Cole Palmer.

After posting a selfie with Palmer following Chelsea's Premier League victory against Luton, Wett faced criticism from Chelsea fans who deemed her association with the player as unwelcome.

Now, her decision to align herself with the Super Eagles has further fueled the ire of Nigerian football enthusiasts who question the sincerity of her support.
