One-half of the popular Nigerian music group has charged the youngsters to make Nigeria proud at the IHF Challenge Trophy in Congo.

Top Nigeria music star Peter Okoye of P-Square on Thursday told the National under-18 and 20 male handball teams to make Nigeria proud at the IHF Challenge Trophy Continental tournament in Congo Brazzaville.

Peter P-Square met the teams ahead of their departure to Congo at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

The talented musician, who was also on his way out, spent some moments with the players, taking pictures and signing autographs for them.

He also congratulated them and charged them to make the country proud by winning their matches after hearing the exploits of the successes of the teams,.

The officials of the teams were not left out from the photo session.

The teams depart for Congo

The national under-18 and 20 boys are looking to build on their brilliant display at the IHF Challenge Zone 3 qualifiers lasy year.

Both national handball teams jetted out of the country on Friday for the IHF Trophy Continental Championship, which will hold in Congo Brazzaville from January 16th to the 20th, 2023.

The teams were training in Lagos for over two weeks for the competition under the watchful guidance of their coaches Emeka Nnamani and Fidelis Obi.

When the competition gets underway, Nigeria will play a round-robin in both categories in Congo.

The National u-18s begin their campaign against Burundi at 11 am while the u-20 team will square it out against Guinea in the first match of the day at 9 am.
