Over 225 players set for African Youth Scrabble Championship in Lagos

African Youth Scrabble Championship starts in Lagos on Thursday.

Over 225 players from Africa and America are set for the Pan African Scrabble Association President’s Cup and the African Youth Scrabble Championship.

The Championships starts on Thursday at the Orchid Hotel, Ikota-Lekki and Chrisland School, also in Lekki, Lagos State that will last for four days.

The AYSC is only open to young scrabble players in Africa who are 19 years of age and younger, the PANASA President's Cup is an elite one-category event open to scrabble players worldwide.

The event will be declare open by the Governor of Turkana County Province of Kenya, Jeremiah Napotikan.

Winners of the President’s Cup will go home with $32,000 while the African Youth Scrabble Championship winner will get $9,000.

The winners will lso go home with other prizes and gift items ranging from laptops to tablets and smart phones for the participants.

The visiting young players will visit landmark locations in the city of Aquatic Splendour like the National Museum, Lekki Conservation Park, Kalakuta Museum, Nike Arts Gallery and also spend time shopping.
