During their Sunday 12 February match in the second leg of the Kenya Volleyball Federation men’s National League at Nyayo Stadium indoor gymnasium, Equity put up a brilliant show and trounced Kenya Ports Authority 3-1 but coach Sammy Kirongo still believes the team has to work on their serving skills if they are to maintain the hot streak.
The first and second set saw the Bankers win 25-23 and 25-14 respectively. In the third set, KPA changed the rhythm by edging out Equity 25-23. In the fourth set, which proved competitive, Equity defeated KPA 25-20.
"The players are good at reception and blocking. Our major undoing is service... that's what we shall be going to work on in our next training," Kirongo said.
Kirongo revealed that beating KPA is a morale booster to the team considering the Mombasa-based team were among the finalists during the previous season. "KPA is a good team and winning such a crucial match in the initial stages of the season makes me happy," he added.

Equity failed to reach the playoffs last season but Kirongo has promised a greater comeback going forward.
"We have started well and I hope we shall continue winning all our matches so that our team can get to the playoffs this time round.
However, we have only played four matches and we have 12 more to go. I am hoping that the third leg will go well for us," added Kirongo.
Meanwhile, Administration Police of Kenya dismissed Kenya Forest Service 3-2 in a highly contested match that saw both teams fight for a win with zeal.
In their opening set, KFS were off to a good start after beating APK 25-18. APK turned the tables in the second and third sets by defeating KFS 25-20 and 25-18 respectively.
The fourth set saw APK thrashed 25-16 but the Law Enforcers made a comeback in the fifth set and defeated KFS 17-15.
In another entertaining but crucial match, Trailblazers lost 3-1 to the Kenya Defence Forces team. Trailblazers gave a good account of themselves as they kicked-off the match with a 25-21 win over KDF but they failed to build on that and succumbed in the consecutive sets.
The second set saw KDF secure a 25-21 win over Trailblazers. In their third set, Trailblazers who looked less psyched up were defeated by KDF 13-25. The final set was full of tension as the two teams scored in turns but KDF managed to pull away in the last minute to secure a 32-30 win.
