This resurgence followed a slight setback on Day 7, when they slipped to third.

Nigeria's athletes rallied on Day eight of the African Games in Ghana, reclaiming their position as the second-place holder on the medal table.

This resurgence followed a slight setback on Day Seven when they slipped to third.

On Day 8, Nigeria's medal tally surged, although the exact number remains unspecified. Nonetheless, this achievement propelled them past South Africa, who briefly held second place but failed to secure any medals on the same day, dropping them to fourth.

Meanwhile, Egypt maintained its dominant lead in the competition, boasting a formidable total medal count of 134, with an impressive 76 gold medals.

Algeria capitalized on a successful Day 8, advancing to third place with an increased medal haul of 86. Tunisia, on the other hand, maintained its position in fifth with its previous total of 58 medals.

Other countries in the top 10 include Mauritius, Eritrea, Madagascar, Morocco, and Cameroon. The host nation, Ghana, currently occupies the 16th spot with just five medals.
