Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has hit back at critics claiming the Gunners bottled the Premier League title.

Ramsdale has been spectacular for Arsenal this season, almost leading them to their first league title since 2003. He was recently included in the Premier League Team of the Season.

The Englishman has kept 13 clean sheets this season and sits third on the clean sheet table one clean sheet behind Alisson in second and three clean sheets behind David De Gea in first.

The goalkeeper has responded to rival fans claiming the Gunners surrendered the league title, giving Manchester City the chance to lift the trophy.

Ramsdale responds to critics

The 25-year-old has defended his teammates and has hit back at rivals insisting Arsenal surrendered the league to City.

It's a raw topic. Only two days have passed since Arsenal's 3-0 home defeat by Brighton all but ended their hopes of catching Manchester City.

Speaking after signing a new contract extension, Ramsdle said, “I think it's an easy way out - just a quick, cheap narrative from certain people who have not actually gone digging into stories of what we have achieved. We are disappointed but extremely proud of ourselves as well.

“It is very hard to say that with a team who could win five of the past six (titles), who are on an 11-game win streak, who might potentially win the treble. We have to be realistic as well.

“It's very disappointing at the minute, but how progressive the season has been, how positive we can be.”

Ramsdale extend new contract with Arsenal

Aaron Ramsdale, Arsenal’s number one goalkeeper has signed a new, long-term contract with the club following a strong campaign.

The English goalkeeper joined the Gunners in 2021 and has since been their number-one goalkeeper.

The 25-year-old has made 76 appearances for Arsenal across all competitions and his performance this season has led to the club offering him a new contract extension.

Manager Mikel Arteta has hailed Ramsdale’s performance this season and he’s happy he agreed to sign a new contract with the club.

Arsenal will travel to Nottingham Forest this weekend after losing to Brighton last week, giving Manchester City the upper hand in the title race.
