Former Arsenal manager Unai Emery has signed a new five-year deal with Aston Villa.

Aston Villa have rewarded manager Unai Emery for his exceptional season by handing him a new five-year contract.

Emery led the Villans to a fourth-place finish in the 2023/24 campaign, which qualified the Birmingham club for their first European competition in 13 years.

Villa renew Emery

Emery joined Aston Villa in October 2022 from Villarreal, with the club languishing in 17th place on the Premier League log. He led them to seventh place in his first season, and in his second campaign, led them to the Champions League.

Despite his current deal remaining, the Aston Villa leadership has decided to offer him to five-year extension, which will keep him at the club until 2029, signalling the total commitment they have to the Basque manager.

"We are building something special here at Aston Villa with Unai at its core and we are delighted that he has signed a new deal with the club until 2029,” the club chairman, Nassef Sawiris, said.

Unai Emery expressed his excitement after signing the deal, saying he feels at home at the club. "I am very happy to take this step and the responsibility of leading this club," said Emery.

"There’s a great chemistry in Aston Villa. And the element of the fans’ support also makes the difference to feel like home. We are really excited to continue this journey with no limits to our dreams."
