German side Eintracht Frankfurt are actively exploring a deal to sign Nigerian defensive midfielder Raphael Onyedika, according to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg.

The move comes as the club seeks to bolster its midfield, but securing the 24-year-old will prove to be a difficult task.

Onyedika, who is under contract with Belgian champions Club Brugge until 2027, has become one of the most sought-after defensive midfielders in Europe.

His performances for the Belgian side have drawn important interest from top clubs, including West Ham United and Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Competition from Europe

Frankfurt is not alone in its pursuit of the Nigerian international. Galatasaray is reportedly in advanced talks to sign Onyedika, with the Turkish club having agreed on personal terms and now in negotiations with Club Brugge for a transfer fee.

West Ham United has also shown renewed interest in the player as a potential successor to Edson Álvarez.

Club Brugge is under no pressure to sell, holding a firm stance on their valuation of the player. While the Belgian side has reportedly received offers in the region of €20m to €30m, their reluctance to part with key players is evident.

Onyedika, for his part, has not publicly pushed for a move, with sources close to him suggesting he is content at Club Brugge.

However, the Nigerian is open to taking the next step in his career, leaving the matter in the hands of the clubs.

For Frankfurt, securing the midfielder's signature will require a concerted effort to outbid and outmaneuver their competitors in what promises to be an intense race for a player seen as a crucial long-term investment.
