The Premier League runners-up’s top target could join the Club World Cup participant that failed in bid to land Victor Osimhen.

Benjamin Sesko has reportedly rejected an approach from Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal, with the news emerging as Arsenal continue to pursue the forward

For weeks, speculation has centred on whether the Gunners would prioritise Sesko or Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres as their main attacking target.

Recent indications suggest the North London club has settled on Sesko, potentially allowing Manchester United to intensify their pursuit of Gyokeres.

Sesko European ambition prevails

Arsenal previously attempted to sign Sesko from RB Leipzig last summer, but he ultimately extended his contract with the German side. However, a departure this summer is now looking increasingly likely.

The Premier League outfit are understood to have held positive discussions with Sesko's representatives, though personal terms are yet to be finalised, and no agreement on a transfer fee has been reached with Leipzig.

Despite the London side not yet submitting a formal bid, the reported rejection of Al-Hilal, due to wanting to stay in European football, significantly boosts the Gunners' chances.

Al-Hilal had reportedly made a push for Sesko's signature ahead of the Club World Cup, following unsuccessful attempts to lure other marquee strikers this summer.

The Saudi club previously failed to secure Cristiano Ronaldo, who confirmed his intention to remain with Al-Nassr, and they could not acquire Victor Osimhen, with the transfer collapsing after the Nigerian opted against the switch.

With Tuesday’s deadline to sign players before the Club World Cup close, Sesko to Al Hilal might be a non-event.

What’s next for Arsenal?

Arsenal hope to finalise more extensions and incomings before the start of pre-season in July.
