The hosts went ahead first in the 14th minute of the game thanks to a Heung-min Son strike off an Ivan Perisic assist.

The visitors pulled the game level in the 38th minute after Matias Vina got on the end of a Dominic Solanke assist. The English striker went from provider to scorer to put his team ahead in the 51st minute of the game.

Arnaut Danjuma thought he snatched a late point for Spurs in the 88th minute of the game before Dango Ouattara finished off a sweeping counter-attacking move in the 95th minute, earning all three points for the gutsy visitors.

What Stellini said

The caretaker manager was speaking to the BBC's MOTD when he analysed his team's loss today.

Stellini believes his team gave their all on the day, but thought the first two goals they conceded in the game were cheap and could have been easily avoided.

"It is a really tough day today because we didn't achieve what we want. We gave everything on the pitch and I think everyone understands this. But we allowed them to score the first two goals too easily. Too easy, too easy. It is difficult then when you are one goal down. You have to be strong in this moment to create a unit and have our fans with us. In the second half we tried to push and we were so close to scoring," he said, per the BBC.

Tottenham travel to St. James's Park in their next Premier League game when they face Newcastle in what is effectively a six-pointer for the top four places.
