From Nigeria's Chukwueze to Mozambique's Reinildo, there is something for every African fan in La Liga this weekend

As always, there are African talents looking to turn in great performances for their clubs in LaLiga this game week. Some familiar, and others not as well known, but all with a chance of putting in a performance to remember this weekend. These are the top five African players looking to impress in La Liga this weekend.

Samuel Chukwueze

(Celta Vigo vs Villarreal

Nigerian forward Samuel Chukwueze has been in impressive form for Villarreal and could be in line for another great performance when the Yellow Submarine travel to Vigo to take on Celta. Chukwueze was a menace against Real Madrid and the defending champions struggled to cope with his pace.

Against Celta, you can expect more of the same and probably some goal contributions to boot from the fleet-footed winger.

Inaki Williams

(Real Sociedad vs Athletic Bilbao)

Inaki WIlliams is on a bit of a goal drought currently, having not found the back of the net in seven competitive fixtures for Athletic Bilbao, but he will be extra pumped going into the Basque derby and will be hoping to end the barren run in the perfect fixture.

The Basque-born Ghanain international knows just how special the derby is to BIlbao fans so he will be hoping to add to his five goals against Real Sociedad when both teams meet on Saturday in LaLiga.

Youssef En Nesyri

(Girona vs Sevilla)

Sevilla’s Moroccan striker Youssef En Nesyri recently turned down advances from the Premier League as he looks to build on his recent form with Sevilla, and will have another opportunity to impress for the Rojiblancos when they take on Girona in Saturday’s afternoon kick off.

Sevilla's Moroccan star Youssef En-Nesyri.

En Nesyri recently scored a hat trick to send Sevilla into the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey, but has not scored since then and is still awaiting his first LaLiga goal of the season.

Sevilla need En Nesyri to start banging in the goals domestically, if they are to escape the torture of possible relegation and with his recent form, they will be confident that he can save them from the drop.

Yaccine ‘Bono’ Bounou

(Girona vs Sevilla)

Fresh from being nominated in the Goalkeeper of the Year category at the FIFA The Best awards, Bono will be hoping to put in more quality performances that could sway more votes in his favour.

The Moroccan goalkeeper won the Zamora trophy as LaLiga’s best goalkeeper in the 2021/22 season, but has not been on the same level in the first half of the league season.

A splendid World Cup campaign should have reinvigorated him for what is left of the season, and it would be great if he maintained the form that saw him named as a contender for the Golden glove in Qatar.

Reinildo Mandava

(Almeria vs Atletico Madrid)

Atletico Madrid have the chance to gain some ground on LaLiga’s big two who are out of action when they travel to Almeria on Sunday, and will be hoping for another big performance from their Mozambican left-back Reinildo Mandava.

Atletico Madrid's Reinildo Mandava has been in good form for the Madrid side this season

Reinildo has been a mainstay in the Atleti team this season, starting 15 of their 16 LaLiga matches, and his impressive performances have been one of the few good things to note in Atletico Madrid’s season.

He leads the team in successful tackles per game, and is third in interceptions, clearances and blocks. He regularly puts in a solid defensive shift for Atleti, and more of the same is expected in their clash with Almeria.
