Black Stars legend Asamoah Gyan appears to have addressed reports of accusing Victor Osimhen of faking an injury.
Ghanaian football legend Asamoah Gyan appeared to have refuted the reports claiming that he accused Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen of faking an injury to get out of international duty for Nigeria.
The allegation
As Pulse Sports reported, Gyan openly questioned Osimhen's recent injury, suggesting it was a calculated move to benefit his new club, Galatasaray.
Gyan's accusation followed Osimhen's forced departure from the pitch during Nigeria's crucial 1-0 victory over Rwanda in the first half last Saturday. The injury was considered serious enough to rule him out of the subsequent World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
However, Ghana’s all-time leading goalscorer Gyan believes the former Napoli striker was faking the injury, according to quotes by Habersarikirmizi.
The debunking
According to Ghana Web, the former Black Stars captain rubbished the reports alleging that he accused Osimhen of faking his injury, deeming it as fake news.
In a now-deleted tweet, One Aganga-Williams Oluwafemi appeared to have reported the news via a tweet. Asamoah Gyan responded, saying, “This news is fake, my brother.”
Meanwhile, Osimhen is expected to miss up to two weeks of action following evaluation from Galatasaray's medical staff.
