Lorenzo Insigne wants to see Victor Osimhen and SSC Napoli continue their relationship in Serie A.

Napoli legend Lorenzo Insigne has warned his former teammate Victor Osimhen to think carefully before deciding to leave the Serie A champions.

Insigne made the comments in an interview with Sky Italia following intense speculation about the future of the Nigerian striker at the club.

The 24-year-old has become a cult hero at the club after leading them to a history outing in the 2022/2023 Serie A season.

Osimhen played a pivotal role as the club from Naples ended a 33-year wait to become Italian champions in dramatic style last season.

The forward netted 26 goals to finish as the top scorer en route to another historic feat as he became the first African to be named best striker in the league’s 125-year history.

However, Osimhen’s future at the club has come under scrutiny in recent times, with just two years left on his current contract at the club.

Insigne warns Osimhen

Following the recent speculations around Osimhen’s future at the club, the Napoli legend has weighed in with his thoughts.

Insigne spent 12 years with Napoli, three of which were as Osimhen’s teammate.

Speaking to Sky Italia, the veteran forward says the recently crowned best player in Italy must think carefully before leaving Naples.

“I would tell him to think carefully before leaving Napoli, because the emotional response you get here cannot be found elsewhere," Insigne said per Football Italia.

The Scudetto is different in Naples compared to other clubs. “He will make the best decision for himself. I hope that he will remain at Napoli for a long time, and if the club has to make an extra effort on the contract, it is worth it, because there are few strikers as talented as he is.”

The Nigeria striker has scored six goals and assisted one more in just 10 appearances this season for the defending champions in the Serie A.
