The Super Eagles of Nigeria recorded a late 3-2 victory against Sierra Leone in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) played at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium, Monrovia, Liberia on Sunday, June 18, 2023.

Mustapaha Bundu pulled one back for Sierra Leone in the 41st minute from a ball by Emmanuel Samadia.
Augustus Kargbo scored a monster shot late in the game to level the game.
However, Zaidu Sanusi was able to find Kelechi Iheanacho to give the Super Eagles maximum points.

Super Eagles strikers Osimhen and Iheanacho received praise for their performance against Sierra Leone.
Osimhen was lauded by fans for a brace in the game that set the tone for the team.

Nigerians expressed their frustration with Super Eagles Head Coach Jose Peseiro.
Despite getting the win and picking up a ticket to the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast next year, Nigerians are not impressed with the Portuguese manager.
Nigerians believe the Super Eagles losses the quality to play better and getting Peseiro out before the AFCON is the way to go
