But the Black Dolphins have added the DR Congo international to the list of players set for new contracts with the club.

Tanzania Premier League giants Simba Sports Club has tabled an offer for AS Vita forward Eric Kabwe.

The offer landed at Msimbazi Reds on Friday, prompting the club into meetings as they weigh up the option of considering a reported $60,000 transfer fee, which appears to be on the low side considering the player's importance to the team.

It is reported that this is the first offer the Msimbazi Reds have put in writing to Vita, and there are chances that it could be improved.

Simba is serious about acquiring Kabwe, one consistent performer for Vita in the Democratic Republic of Congo Linafoot.

The Msimbazi Reds' interest has been welcomed by the 21-year-old, but an opportunity to move to play for the Tanzania Premier League in CAF Champions League could hit a snag.

Kabwe is cup-tied for the CAF games and will not be able to play for the club should he sign, as he has already played for Vita and cannot be registered for the same competition by another team at this stage.

According to a respected South Africa journalist Lorenz Kohler, the attacker who scored twice in the CAF Champions League this season can sign a pre-contract.

Meanwhile, Vita have already tabled an improved new three-year deal to Kabwe following inquiries for his services from a Tanzanian club last month.

Kabwe joined Vita in August 2020 from another Congolese outfit FC Lubumbashi Sports, and his contract is set to expire on June 30 this year.

The striker debuted for DR Congo in the goalless draw against Uganda in the 2023 African Nations Championship in Algeria in January.
