Sharks against problem riddled Wazito fc earned the William Muluya-coached side
three precious points after Paul Odhiambo and Fortune Omoto struck either side
of a Wazito leveler set the tone in the first half.
Sharks were buoyed heading into the fixture following an
uplifting 2-0 win over financially crippled Sofapaka in their last league
match.
Their determination to notch a second consecutive victory in
the top-flight showed early as they poke home in the 18th minute,
Odhiambo capping off a fine team move with a deft finish to put Sharks ahead.
A resilient Wazito then struck back nearly instantly to peg
Muluya’s back. It took four minutes for Wazito to score their equalizer by
Omoto responded within a minute to shoot Sharks back in front.
Three goals in twenty five minutes settled early skirmishes
as Sharks pulled their feet of the gas, biding their time towards the midway
breather.
A frenetic start of the second half produced a flurry of
chances for both teams ut it was Sharks who stretched their lead with Odhiambo
notching his second of the game after nine minutes into the second half.
Elsewhere, Talanta dug deeper into their reserves to banish
fellow strugglers Vihiga United 2-1. Talanta had taken the lead in the 24th
minute of the game but suffered a sucker punch nineteen minutes into the second
half when Vihiga United conjured an equalizer.
It took sustained rallies from Talanta frontline to regain
the lead with seventeen minutes left on the clock. A cautious game management
then steered the relatively young squad to a priceless victory over fellow
relegation contenders.
