Egyptian legend Mohamed Salah could come between Super Eagles stars Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman

Galatasaray’s plans to reunite Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman in Istanbul may be under threat, with fresh reports suggesting the Turkish champions are shifting their attention toward a far bigger name.

According to club insider Uğur Karakullukçu, Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has now emerged as Galatasaray’s preferred attacking target ahead of the Nigerian forward.

Galatasaray cool interest in Lookman

Ademola Lookman had recently climbed back into Galatasaray’s thinking after rediscovering form with Atalanta.

The Super Eagles winger, who endured a difficult start to the Serie A campaign, has sparked renewed interest by scoring twice and supplying an assist in his last four appearances across all competitions.

Those performances revived talk of a January move that would have linked him up with Osimhen, his Nigeria teammate and Galatasaray’s marquee striker.

However, despite Lookman’s upturn, the financial implications of such a deal appear to be giving the Yellow-Reds cause for concern.

The cost of a transfer, combined with a hefty salary package, has reportedly forced club executives to reconsider whether the investment represents the best use of their resources going into the next window.

Salah emerges as Galatasaray alternative

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Karakullukçu revealed that Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek is now leaning toward a more ambitious strategy.

Quoting Özbek, he said: “Instead of paying Lookman 45 million Euros, and considering his salary will be around 10 million Euros plus taxes, let’s go for Mohamed Salah. If we can afford his transfer fee, let’s get Salah.” The idea, he added, is to tempt the Egyptian icon away from Liverpool on a free transfer.

Salah’s situation at Anfield has fueled the speculation, with the forward slipping down the pecking order after a challenging start to the season.

As January approaches, Galatasaray’s attacking plans remain fluid, but for now, Salah’s potential arrival threatens to derail hopes of an Osimhen–Lookman reunion in Turkey.
