The 30-year-old played the full 90 minutes in the win but was left out of Tuesday’s friendly with Germany.

Real Madrid's Courtois set to be available

A statement from Belgium read:

“Thibaut returned for precaution reasons back to Real Madrid due to a minor strain in the adductor.”

The medical checks conducted on Courtois after he returned to Spain successfully confirmed that there were no serious issues. Real Madrid are confident he will be ready for the brutal schedule of games coming up.

This injury is not new for Courtois as he reportedly complained about feeling discomfort during the Uefa Champions League victory over Liverpool at the Bernabeu earlier this month.

Despite Real Madrid struggling to keep up with Barcelona in the league, Courtois has been sublime in the Champions League, being a significant part of why Los Blancos are once again, in the quarterfinals of Europe’s elite competition.

Domestic action resumes for Real Madrid after the international break this week as they take on  Real Valladolid on Sunday at home and as things stand, Courtois will be expected to start.

It is the start of a busy fortnight for the club with Sunday’s game followed by the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Barcelona on April 5.

They then face Villarreal in La Liga before taking on Chelsea in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on April 12.
