Real Madrid have begun talks with Thibaut Courtois on a new contract extension as they look to keep him at the club.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper's current deal runs until 2026 and the club is looking to tie him down.

Talks between the club and the Belgian representatives are expected to take place after the Club World Cup.

Courtois set for new contract

Real Madrid will offer Thibaut Courtois a new contract, aiming to keep him at the club until 2028, according to AS, via Sportal.

Real Madrid are keen for Courtois to remain at the Santiago Bernabéu and are willing to break with tradition to make it happen.

They typically don't offer contracts longer than one year to players over 30, but are looking to make an exception for Courtois.

The goalkeeper's camp has also expressed a desire to extend his contract, so a deal is expected to be reached without complications.
